What is a hip thrust machine?

Some gyms may have a unique piece of equipment for this move - often called a hip thruster. It is an L-shaped device with an attached platform and a padded bar on the floor that you rest on. Many people find this equipment the most stable and comfortable to perform the move.

The GANAS hip thrust machine targets your glutes primarily. However, this is only one of the muscle groups it targets. Your hamstrings also get a solid workout along with your core, quadriceps, and hip adductors. At the top of the movement, your shoulder blades are also involved.

When you start, you contract your core to flex your hips. After finding your bottom range, you start contracting your glutes. As this process happens at the bottom, you also crunch your abdomen to fully contract your glutes. In the upward movement, your lower back, quadriceps, and hamstrings are also involved in this movement. In addition, your adductors ensure stability in your legs and knees.
